Maths at St Matthew’s
At St Matthew’s children are taught to use their mathematical and communication skills across
all areas of the curriculum.
We believe that all children should enjoy maths and feel confident and enthusiastic about solving mathematical puzzles. As maths is used and applied in real life each day, in a variety of situations and contexts, we encourage children to enjoy the challenge of solving problems and challenges in real life contexts. Children are encouraged to explore the properties of number and shape and investigate additional patterns and possible solutions. Learning to use maths in a variety of situations is stimulating and effective and should always be a lot of fun!
We run maths workshops for parents in our regular Coffee Mornings for parents so that you can see what and how the children learn at St Matthew’s. Please click on the links below to read the Parent Booklets that explain the end of year expectations for each year group in Maths (& English)
