SEND and Inclusion
St. Matthew’s School is a fully inclusive school, recognising each child’s right to fulfil their potential.
We believe that every child must receive a broad and balanced curriculum which is appropriate and adapted to their individual needs, regardless of gender, race or ability.
The SEND Code of Practice 0–25 years gives guidance on meeting pupils’ special needs and disabilities. As a school, we recognise the importance of meeting the educational needs of all pupils at St Matthew’s and being ambitious for every child.

At St Matthew’s, we do our best to meet the needs of each individual in each class to the best of our ability, with or without a formal assessment. To help us achieve the best possible outcomes for pupils with specific special educational needs, we work closely with a range of outside agencies and professionals: for example, Educational Psychology, School Nursing Service, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, MIND and specialist Autism outreach support.
If you have a child with Special Educational Needs, or a query about the school’s provision for different groups of children, please contact Mrs Jenna Monk, Acting SENCo, via the school office – office@stmwschool.org.uk.
